Primer registro de los icnogéneros Macaronichnus y Phycosiphon en el Pérmico medio (Wordiano) de Coahuila, México: Consideraciones paleoambientales

Resumen

La Formación Las Delicias de Coahuila, México, es una unidad litoestratigráfica del Pérmico, bien reconocida por la gran diversidad y abundancia de invertebrados marinos fósiles que presenta. A pesar de que esta formación se ha estudiado desde diferentes puntos de vista, ya sea geológicos o paleontológicos, aún perdura una evidente escasez de trabajos relacionados con los icnofósiles de la región. En esta contribución se reporta por primera vez la presencia de dos icnogéneros para el Pérmico de México: Macaronichnus y Phycosiphon. En el caso de Macaronichnus isp., ubicado en la parte superior de la sección (en un nivel de arenisca calcárea), se relacionó con una traza de pastoreo (Pascichnia), perteneciente a poliquetos infaunales, asociados con ambientes de alta energía, oxigenados y ricos en nutrientes. Por otro lado, Phycosiphon incertum, encontrado en la parte inferior de la sección (en un estrato de marga), se vinculó con una traza de alimentación (Fodinichnia), realizada por un organismo detritívoro infaunal oportunista, presente en ambientes marinos de baja energía, con materia orgánica fluctuante y poco oxígeno.
