Benthic communities of Cretaceous platforms associated with magmatic arcs in the western part of Mexico

Abstract
The distribution of the benthic fossil communities (foraminifera, gastropod, and rudists) associated to magmatic arcs has been analysed from several sites located in the western part of Mexico. These localities are situated in the Ocean Paci c margin from Guerrero State to North Baja California State. The examined fauna: foraminifera, rudists and gastropod present faunal tethysian af nities. The documented sequences are composed by reefal limestone interbedded with material produced by diverse magmatic activity indicative of intra –oceanic arc af nity in a subduction area.
