Abstract

A new genus of Ammonites from the Middle Jurassic is described, which is called Parastrenoceras gen. nov.. This genus includes three species and two subspecies from the Taberna Formation (Upper Bajociano) of the NW region of the State of Oaxaca, Mexico: P. mixteca sp. nov. with P. mixteca mixteca subsp. nov. and P.  mixteca zapoteca subsp. nov.; P. oaxacanum sp. nov and P. tlaxiacense sp. nov..


"Ammonites caumontii" d´Orbigny and  "Ammonites lucretius" d´Orbigny, from the Oolite inférieure (Upper Bajocian) of the Normandy region, France, have been considered in the new genus Parastrenoceras.
